On February 15, 1933, President-elect Franklin D. Roosevelt survived an assassination attempt while speaking in Miami.
Although Roosevelt was unharmed, Anton Cermak, Mayor of Chicago, was struck during the attack and later died on March 6, 1933.
The event occurred just weeks before Roosevelt’s inauguration and became one of the most significant pre-inaugural moments in American history.
